A Fantasy Question

Imagine you must live in a well-provisioned cabin for one year. The cabin is in Antarctica. You can choose anyone from history, living or dead. No family members, spouses, or dating partners permitted. Who would you select and why?

My Picks

I want each person to be their 25-year-old selves. I’m going to be my 67-year-old self.

  1. Albert Einstein
  2. Adolf Hitler
  3. Jimmy Carter

Engaging with a future scientist, a mass-murdering dictator, and a former US President as young men. Each would have the knowledge of science, politics, and technology of the time they came from.

Our cabin will have 2026 technology, but no internet access, and be cut off from the outside world. We would have only each other to interact with. Our only entertainment would be each other. We would have ample supplies. This would not be an exercise in survival. It would be time to exchange ideas and influence each other. Would Einstein and Carter change Hitler? Could I influence any of their thinking? Would it be possible to alter their individual futures?

A scene like this would make an interesting science fiction story. A fantasy movie, a morality story.

Who would you select and why? What would you hope to achieve?
